Cinque terre Italy

If you plan to spend a wonderful day in visiting Cinque Terre, five old villages in coast of the Ligurian Sea you can start your journey from La Spezia by taking a train. It is running between all these villages, and you can hop on hop off in the stops Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. My suggestion is to take The Cinque Terre Card Train. The card gives you the possibility to use train all day, shuttle buses which take you from the station to the village of Corniglia, and trekking trails. The Cinque Terre Card Train: € 16 which gives you unlimited train travel on the Levanto - Cinque Terre - La Spezia line. For the info about timetable and prices check this link www.cinqueterre.eu.com/en/cinque-terre-timetable. The towns are not far from each other, 5 min by train approx. When you purchase the train ticket you will also get the small map. On the train ticket you will have a password to free Wi-Fi which you can use in each village in the Wi-Fi spot. On the each station there is a toilet.
Which village is the best, I cannot say, because it depends on the taste you have. I can say with certainty that it is worth visiting all five villages. Our strategy was to go first to Monterosso and to start from there.
When you get off the train in Monterosso you will not see so many colorful houses but more modern seaside village with big beautiful beach. Therefore, there are a lot of hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, cafes. If you plan to spend your holiday in Cinque Terre, I suggest this place as a starting point. This new part of the village is called Fegina. If you go right you will see Il Gigante from the below picture. If you follow the road at one point you will reach nice viewing point from.
Don’t get confused, there is a second part of the village. When you get of the train if you go left just around the corner or through the tunnel will reach the old town. Check the map form www.amoitalia.com Visit the statue of San Benedetto d' Assisi, located The Church of St. Francis and the connected Convent of the Capuchins. When you start walking from Fegina to the old town follow the signs. It is anyway located in the hill which divides the new and the old town.

Vernazza is one of the cutest villages for me. When you get off the train if you go straight you will
reach the beach where you can chose to sit in a cafe or on the rocks enjoying the sun and sea. You can climb to the Tower of the Doria Castle, but we decided to take the walk next to olive trees and find a best stop to enjoy the view of the town. To go there, you have to go back to the train station go below the station and start climbing the steps on your left. Follow the road which is leading your through the village. At some point you will reach a place from where you can take wonderful pictures. If you take the trakking road from Monterosso to Vernazza you will defenetly enjoy the beautiful views.
